October Movie Preview: Horror, more horror, and Blade Runner

Happy fall, Dragons! This month, we have a lineup of scary movies and a questionable sequel/reboot.

Blade Runner 2049 – October 6th

The original Blade Runner is a treasure. Based on the Philip K. Dick novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the original followed a “blade runner,” Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who is tasked with hunting down a group of fugitive replicants. This next installment takes place thirty years later and follows a new blade runner (Ryan Gosling) who has to find Deckard. So far, it’s getting pretty good reviews, but my love of the original makes me skeptical. We didn’t need a sequel! But we all know that I’ll still see this opening weekend.

Happy Death Day – October 13th

A college student keeps reliving her birthday, which also happens to be the day she’s murdered. Every time she’s killed, she wakes up on the same day, tasked with figuring out who kills her.

The Snowman – October 20th

Michael Fassbender stars as a hot Scandinavian detective who has to track down a serial killer who cuts off victims’ heads. I’m in!

Geostorm – October 20th

In the future, we can control the weather with satellites, and because AI is terrifying, the satellites turn on us, and ta-da – GEOSTORM. This feels like a Michael Bay movie – like Armageddon with weather. Again, I’m in.

Jigsaw – October 27th

Oh, hey, they made another one of these? Jigsaw died in the last one, I guess (spoiler alert), but someone has picked up where he left off. Expect more of the same – blood and gore, repeat, repeat.

Dragons, what movies are you looking forward to this month? Are you in for these horror movies? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
